The Nurpur district police have busted a gang of thieves by arresting all four accused members of the gang active of neighbouring Pathankot in Punjab, which committed theft in the Nurpur area. A theft case had been registered at the Nurpur police station in August, last year, after a theft was committed in a shop at Baranda. As per information the gang had stolen saria (reinforcing bars) worth Rs 2.50 lakh from Suraj Sharma’s shop.

Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan said after a thorough investigation and careful analysis of evidence, the police were able to identify the culprits. Three of the suspects had already been arrested, and the fourth, identified as Kala from Kahanpur village in Pathankot, was apprehended on Monday following a raid on his suspected locations.

The SP said the investigation began with the arrest of Babbi from Barath Sahib (Sarna) in Pathankot and Maskeen Ali from Kathua a few months ago. Subsequently, the police arrested Sourabh from Sujanpur (Pathankot) for purchasing the stolen saria. The final arrest of the fourth gang member took place yesterday, bringing the case to a close.
