4 drug peddlers held with 27 gm 'chitta' in Shimla

Four drug peddlers have been arrested with 27 grams of 'chitta' (heroin) in two different cases in Shimla, the police said.

In the first case, two persons were arrested with 19.64 grams of 'chitta' (heroin) from the apple mandi in the Bhattakufer locality of the state’s capital. The accused have been identified as Ashish Chandel, a resident of Barot village in Mandi district, and Rajat Sharma, a resident of Baldwada village in Mandi.

A special cell team of the Shimla police arrested the duo after the contraband was seized from their possession during checking.

In another incident, two more drug peddlers were arrested with 7.3 grams of 'chitta' (heroin) from Indra Nagar in Dhalli. They were identified as Rajneesh Motiyan, a resident of Jakhi village in Chirgaon of Shimla district, and Parth Makta, a resident of Andhra village in Chirgaon, Shimla. They were arrested with the contraband from their rented room in Dhalli.

SP, Shimla, Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, had been registered against the accused and investigations were underway.
