The police have arrested four Haryana residents in a case involving the recovery of electronic gadgets from a candidate appearing for the constable recruitment exam of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at a private university at Barotiwala in the district.
The police had arrested three youths last evening, while one was arrested on Thursday after the examination of the CCTV footage and other technical investigation. All accused were produced in a court that remanded them in police custody.
A Sonepat resident was arrested while carrying an electronic device at a centre set up for the examination for the posts of constable in the RPF, said SP, Baddi, Vinod Kumar.
The Barotiwala police had received a complaint from Gaurav Pathania deputed at the examination centre at the gate of Maharaja Agrasen University after a hand-held metal detector found candidate Rahul (22) carrying an electronic device, charging battery, a SIM card and a small Bluetooth device.
The police had registered a case under Section 318(4), 62 of the BNS for cheating and attempting to commit a serious crime and Section 3, 4, 10, 11(1) of the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and arrested Rahul, a resident of Rewari village in Sonepat.
The SP had constituted a Special Investigation Unit (SIT) headed by SDPO, Baddi, Abhishek to investigate the electronic gadgets recovery case. The SIT also included members of the Cyber Cell, CCTV unit. After examining the CCTV footage and probing other technical aspects, the SIT arrested three more accused, namely Vikas (27), Sachin (28) and Rohit (32), all residents of Gohana in Haryana, last evening, taking the number of those arrested to four, he added.
