Even as six corona patients have been discharged after recovery, the emergence of four new cases, two each from Solan and Una, has added to the worries of the government — the total corona patients has risen to 32.
A total of 64 samples were tested today of which 57 were negative and two positive. The report of five is awaited. Of 954 samples tested so far, 32 have been positive. Besides, 5,404 persons were kept under surveillance of which 2,969 have completed the mandatory 28-day isolation period. RD Dhiman, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, said now it had been decided to investigate all cases of acute respiratory illness and those having ailments like sugar, asthma and cancer as a precautionary measure.
“Two more Tablighi Jamaat followers from Una have tested positive, raising the total number in the district to 14,” said Dhiman. The fresh cases include one person from Kuthera Kahirla, from where three persons had tested positive. The other person is from Maniar village in Bangana of Una. Both were shifted to the Charitable Hospital Bhota in Hamirpur.
The two new cases in Solan include a receptionist and a technician at the Brooklyn Hospital in Baddi.
Meanwhile, four more patients from Una have recovered and discharged from Tanda college in Kangra today. With this, the number of total patients who have recovered has risen to six.
Hospital staff isolated
A receptionist and a lab technician of Brooklyn Hospital at Jharmajri in Barotiwala, who tested positive for Covid last evening, has left the medical community worried. Vinay Kumar (27) and Manoj Kumar (20) had contracted the virus from five Delhi residents, who were staying at the guesthouse of a helmet company at Barotiwala. They have been quarantined at the hospital.
Tablighi connection
Two persons tested positive for coronavirus in Una today, taking the total number of cases in the district to 14. Abdul, son of a maulavi of the Kutheda Khairla Masjid, and Sumeen Muhammad, who is a member of the Tablighi Jamaat, tested positive. Sumeen belongs to Chowki Maniar in Bangana.
