40 evacuated after landslide in Shimla

Around 40 persons were rescued from near Raj Bhawan area in Shimla after a massive landslide that occured on Monday night near Ram Chandra Chowk in Shimla.

The road at Ram Chandra Chowk has been blocked for vehicular movement as a result. District administration and police teams reached the spot as soon as they received the information and evacuated people in the area as a safety measure.

Machineries have been deployed and the debris from the road is being cleared.

In another incident, a tree fell upon several buildings in the Chotta Shimla area, causing substantial damages. However, no loss of life was reported.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is very likely to continue in many parts of Himachal as the state’s Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti district for Tuesday.
