484 roads, including 2 national highways, closed across state

As many as 484 roads, including two national highways (NH), remain closed for vehicular movement across the state as a result of torrential rains. As per the State Emergency Operation Centre, as many as 245 roads, including NH-03, are closed in Mandi; 102 roads, including NH-305 in Kullu; 83, including NH154A, in Chamba; 21 in Kangra, 13 in Una, nine in Sirmaur, six in Shimla, two each in Bilaspur and Kinnaur; and one in Lahaul and Spiti remain closed.

Additionally, as many as 941 distribution transformers, including 477 in Mandi, 409 in Chamba, 25 in Kullu, 23 in Kinnaur, six in Kangra and one in Lahaul and Spiti, along with 95 water supply schemes, including 36 each in Mandi and Chamba, 13 in Hamirpur, eight in Kangra and two in Lahaul and Spiti, remain disrupted, causing inconveniences to the people.

Meanwhile, the State Meteorological Department has issued yellow weather warnings for many parts of the state till August 30. For August 25, yellow warning has been issued for Shimla, Mandi, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Sirmaur districts, predicting heavy rainfall in isolated areas of these districts.

In the past 24 hours, the state witnessed very heavy rain at isolated areas and light to moderate rain at most places. Pandoh in Mandi district received 120 mm rain, which was the highest in the state. Kasauli received 105 mm, Mandi 68 mm, Palampur 33.2 mm,Chamba 24 mm, Manali 21 mm, Una 18.2 mm, Bhuntar 16.6 mm, Kangra 16.2 mm, Bilaspur 1.2 mm, Kalpa 8.4 mm, Solan 7.8 mm, Dharamsala 5.8 mm and Shimla 4 mm.
