4,862 cases settled at Lok Adalat in Hamirpur district

A National Lok Adalat was organised at judicial complexes in Hamirpur, Nadaun and Barsar in the district today. A total of 12,246 cases were listed for hearing, of which 4,862 cases were settled on the spot, resulting in the recovery of Rs 3,02,11,750.

Among the resolved cases, 4,187 were related to the Motor Vehicles Act, through which Rs 14,21,700 were collected as fine. In 182 pre-litigation cases, authorities recovered Rs 55,87,657, while 493 post-litigation cases led to the recovery of Rs 2,32,02,393.Kuldeep Sharma, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, said Lok Adalats served as an excellent mechanism for quick resolution of pending cases. “The process not only saves valuable time and money for the public but also helps maintain cordial relationships between parties by encouraging mutual agreement,” he said.
