State BJP president Rajeev Bindal said the party would run a tree plantation campaign from August 1 to 15 to enhance the green cover and protect the environment.
“On the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP is running a campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ across the country. The BJP has decided to plant 50 saplings at every booth in the state to achieve a target of four lakh trees at 8,000 places,” said Bindal. A team, which will review the campaign, has been formed under the chairmanship of state general secretary Trilok Kapoor, he added. Bindal urged people across the state to participate enthusiastically in this campaign.
“India was partitioned on August 14, 1947, and Pakistan was formed on the basis of religion by dividing Punjab and Bengal into two parts. Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s demand of partitioning India on the basis of religion was accepted, rendering lakhs of people homeless,” Bindal said. He added that the BJP will commemorate August 14 as Partition Horror Day so that the future generations could be made aware of it.
He said the BJP will celebrate ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’ on August 15 in every mandal. A team had been formed in all four parliamentary constituencies under the leadership of state general secretary Bihari Lal Sharma for the campaign.
