Managements of five industrial units have been booked for violating directions in the red zone of Baddi and Barotiwala industrial areas where all industries were directed to close their manufacturing operations on April 11.

The four units – SSF Plastics at Katha, Torque Pharmaceuticals, Baddi, Barflex Polyfilms, Barotiwala, and Dr Sabharwal’s Wound Care, Buranwala – were found operating with manpower ranging from 35 to 102 employees by the police despite the lockdown in the critical red zone. They have been booked under section 188, 269 and 270 of the IPC for violating the directions which could risk the spread of infection in this vulnerable zone, informed SP, Baddi, Rohit Malpani.

In fifth case, a case against pharmaceutical unit USV Limited was also registered as the unit had violated directions and had dropped their staff on the road near a gas plant from where they had to walk on foot through a containment zone in the curfew.

The situation was highly critical in the Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh industrial area and such laxity could prove dear. As many as nine Covid positive cases have emerged in the Nalagarh sub-division. A three-km radius around Brookyln hospital and guest house of helmet-manufacturing unit at Jharmajri in Barotiwala as well as Tablighi Markaz at Nalagarh have been declared containment zones and categorized as red category zones due to the large number of Covid positive cases. — TNS
