5 cops on Himachal CM’s escort duty suspended for buying liquor
Five Himachal Pradesh policemen, including a Sub-Inspector, on the escort duty of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu have been suspended after a video allegedly showing them purchasing liquor and keeping it in an official vehicle went viral on social media.
The five policemen had escorted the Chief Minister to Chandigarh yesterday. While the Chief Minister left for New Delhi, the policemen in uniform, on their way back, were spotted buying liquor from a shop and transporting it in the official vehicle. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media last evening. Solan SP Gaurav Singh took strong note of the misconduct of the policemen deputed on the escort duty of the Chief Minister and suspended two of them, who are from Solan. The three others — a Sub-Inspector and two constables deputed to 6th IR Battalion, Kolar in Paonta Sahib, — were also suspended and a departmental inquiry was initiated against them.
The SP said a probe to ascertain the place and the date when the video was shot was underway. He said strict directions had been issued to policemen to refrain from such acts, as they bring disrepute to a disciplined force of the state. — TNS
