Chamba, January 15
Five persons died due to incessant rain while three were injured during the past 24 hours in Chamba district, official reports said here today.
Two persons, including a woman, were buried under the debris of a landslide near Gagla village in the district and three were injured when they were crossing a path.
The bodies of the deceased Tilak Raj (30) of Dhahruin village and Radha of Tanhui (Bhadiyan) village had been retrieved with the help of locals and the police, reports said.
The injured Kajal, Bindu and Kaku Ram were brought to government medical college hospital with the help of locals, the reports said.
In another incident at Triveni Ghat near Holi tribal township, one person, who was sleeping in an inn, was also buried alive under the landslide debris, reports said, adding that the body of Rakesh Kumar (32) had been retrieved.
Rakesh Kumar belonged to Sarkaghat whose family members had been informed over the phone, reports said.
Besides, two persons, one from Gheplu (70) of Kolka village and another as Chatro of Ghalu village died, the reports further stated.
