Palampur, January 25
As many as 50 Congress workers along with former party block president Arun Rana joined the BJP in the Sullah Assembly constituency today. They switched sides to the BJP in the presence of Sullah MLA Vipin Singh Parmar at a function organised to welcome new voters for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Rana, while speaking to mediapersons, alleged that the Congress was a leaderless party in the state as well as at the Centre. “The Congress has no policy or planning for the forthcoming parliamentary elections. Party workers are disillusioned and disappointed. Therefore, they have decided to join the BJP. In the coming days, more Congress workers will join the BJP,” he added.
Earlier, Parmar said that the Congress was on its last leg in the country and therefore its workers decided to join the BJP at Sullah. “In Himachal Pradesh, since the Congress has come to power, all development activities have come to a standstill. In the health sector, the Himcare scheme launched by the previous BJP government and Ayushman Bharat sheme of the Central Government have virtually collapsed. The state government has failed to clear the medical bills of hospitals, affecting hundreds of poor patients who want to avail of cashless medical care,” he added.
Parmar alleged that the Congress government in the state would not survive for a long time and it would collapse due to internal bickering. He claimed that after the consecration of Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya temple, the popularity graph of the BJP had gone up in the country.
