Stringent steps have been taken to contain coronavirus in the state and awareness and social distancing are the only ways to protect ourselves from the disease until a vaccine is available. Rakesh Pathania, Forest Minister, said this while addressing administration officers at a meeting on coronavirus management in the district here today.
Pathania said that the government had started an active-case finding programme in the state to identify infected people. He added that over 532 teams had been constituted in the district to check the health status of every individual. These teams would examine people for ailments such as blood pressure, diabetes and tuberculosis.
He said that the government had started the One warning free warning programme to educate people about the safety measures to be followed during the pandemic.
He said that these teams had examined 1.16 lakh persons in the district, around 27 per cent of the total population. He added that the district administration needs to be more vigil at crowded places, including markets, bus stops and hospitals. Wearing of masks, social distancing and maintaining sanitisation would help in containing the spread of coronavirus.
MLA Narender Thakur, HRTC Vice-Chairman Vijay Agnihorti and Deputy Commissioner Debashveta Banik attended the meeting.
