Over 6,000 teachers will evaluate 11 lakh answer sheets of classes X and class XII examinations conducted by the HP Board of School Education (HPBSE). The process has been set in motion and 45 issuing and collection centres have been established across the state.
A bundle of 210 papers will be given to each teacher and the evaluated ones will have to be returned within nine days, including the journey days, with awards. The papers of Class X will be distributed in the morning while those of Class XII will be given in the evening to avoid overcrowding.
The school principals of these 45 centres have been designated as coordinators, and they could further designate a teacher as an assistant coordinator. Two persons, including an officer, will also be deployed at each centre for assistance in issuing papers and maintaining record. Sanitisers and masks will be made available to the teachers.
The checking of answer sheets at evaluation centres was not feasible because social distancing norms could not be adhered to when over 200 teachers were present, therefore teachers would collect the papers, check them and return the same with the marksheet, said Chairman, HPBSE, Suresh Soni. He said fictitious roll numbers were being allotted to maintain secrecy and the answer sheets would be delivered to these centres on May 4.
The geography exam of Class XII would be rescheduled while the marks of computer science and vocational subjects would be given on the basics of practical, internal assessment and theory marks in other four subjects in the interest of the students, he told The Tribune.
“We had asked the Chairman of the Board of School Education to put a plan in place for checking the answer sheets and the process has been initiated. All modalities and logistics have been worked out,” said Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj.
