According to officials, the first landslide occurred on Wednesday morning, burying two individuals under the debris. Rescue personnel recovered the body of a local resident on Friday, while a member of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) remains missing in the area.

The situation worsened on Thursday morning when a second landslide hit the same locality, burying nine people. Three injured victims were successfully rescued from the rubble by the rescue teams. As of this morning, five bodies have been recovered from the second landslide site, while one person is still reported missing.

Confirming the developments, Kullu Superintendent of Police (SP) Karthikeyan Gokulachandran said, “So far,  six bodies have been recovered from the two landslide sites. Two individuals remain missing — one from each site. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area with the support of the NDRF, police, and local administration.”

The victims include both local residents and individuals from other regions. Authorities confirmed that the bodies of the deceased from Kashmir have been sent to their respective hometowns with the assistance of the district administration.   Heavy rains in the region triggered the back-to-back landslides, causing massive destruction and posing continued risks to residents and rescue personnel.

Rescue operations are being carried out under challenging conditions due to unstable terrain.   Local authorities have urged residents to avoid high-risk zones and cooperate with evacuation and safety protocols. The district administration is closely monitoring the situation and has assured all necessary support to the affected families.

The search continues as rescue teams strive to bring closure to the families of the individuals still missing amid the debris.
