Six girls of Government Senior School, Sarsu, near Solan, have accused a language teacher of “bad touch” and the police have filed a case under the POCSO Act against the accused. The girls had lodged a complaint against the teacher with the school authorities in May as well, following which he was was transferred to another school.
“Following the Rajgarh case, this particular incident resurfaced and it was reported to the police yesterday,” said Himender Bali, Deputy Director, Education, Sirmaur. “The accused teacher will be suspended shortly,” he added.
The matter was not forwarded to the anti-sexual committee of the school when the girls lodged a complaint against the teacher. Instead, the matter was settled by transferring the accused to another school. “The matter should have gone to the anti-sexual committee at that time,” said Bali. He said he had directed the schools to hold the meeting of anti-sexual harassment committee every month.
