Shimla, April 10
As many as 601 persons have been arrested in 630 cases of curfew violation in the state, 440 vehicles have been seized and a fine of Rs 4.95 lakh has been imposed. Till now, 97 members of the Tablighi Jamaat have been booked for non-disclosure of their travel history in 20 cases while 11 persons entering Shimla district from Nerva have been arrested.
A total of 684 persons, including 333 associated with the Tablighi Jamaat and 351 who came in primary contact with them, have been quarantined. As many as 211 persons have been quarantined in Baddi police district, 168 in Sirmaur, 106 in Chamba, 92 in Kangra, 39 in Una, 27 in Shimla, 25 in Mandi and 16 in Bilaspur.
DGP SR Mardi today appealed to residents to not post or forward messages of social boycott of people associated with the Tablighi Jamaat on social media and unitedly fight the Covid-19 threat.
He said that country-made liquor was dangerous and asked liquor vends not to promote it. He added that the sale of ‘pan’, ‘kheni’, ‘gutka’ and chewing gum was banned in the state.
