61-year-old man shoots wife in Dharampur

A 56-year-old woman was on Sunday shot by her husband, who was in an inebriated state, at Radhodhar village near Dharampur.
The aggrieved woman, Shakuntla, was rushed to community health centre (CHC) at Dharampur, from there, she was referred to MMU medical college where she succumbed to her injuries.
DSP Parwanoo Yogesh Rolta said the incident occurred when Shakuntla Devi was having dinner in the kitchen and the family had bolted the wire mesh door from outside so as to confine the 61-year old Meher Chand inside the room as he was drunk.
In a fit of rage, he shot his wife. Meher Chand was arrested by the police and a case under Section 302 of the IPC for murder and under the Arms Act has been registered at Dharampur.
The post mortem of the deceased has been conducted and further probe was underway.
