Solan, February 22

The Baddi police today challaned 63 school buses for violation of the Motor Vehicles Act. They imposed penalties ranging from Rs 800 to Rs 5,800 for various violations and collected Rs 20,600 as fine after compounding 63 cases. Surprisingly, though the police had held a meeting with the representatives of all schools and directed them to strictly follow the norms, various violations were still being reported.

All 15 buses checked in the Ramshehar area were found to be violating the norms. Fifteen buses plying in the Barotiwala and Nalagarh areas were also fined for various violations while five others in Baddi, seven in Joghon and four in Dabhota were also challaned for violating law. The quick reaction team of the police also challaned two buses in the industrial belt.

Notably, the Baddi police had earlier challaned 107 school buses for various violations on Tuesday.

Baddi SP Rohit Malpani said that efforts were being made to discipline school bus operators to ensure that the safety norms are followed in letter and in spirit.
