63-yr-old woman loses battle to Covid in Himachal

The state recorded 164 fresh Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the infection tally to 5,945, while with one more fatality the death toll reached 33. While a woman succumbed to Covid in Kangra, the highest 45 cases were reported from the district. Kangra was followed by Sirmaur where 37 cases were reported while 29 cases were recorded in Hamirpur, 27 in Solan, 12 in Chamba, 10 in Shimla, nine in Una, three in Bilaspur, two in Kullu and one in Mandi. The number of active cases in the state are 1,460.
Eight of Tanda staff +ve
A 63-year-old woman died of Covid at the Tanda medical college, taking the death toll to eight in Kangra district.
The deceased was admitted to the Tanda medical college on August 21 and tested positive the next day. She was kept in an isolation ward. The victim had ovarian tumours.
In the biggest single-day spike, 45 persons tested positive in the district. Those infected include a woman and her two sons from Beh village in Dadasiba, a 28-year-old woman and a one-year-old child from Duck village.
Eight health personnel from the Tanda medical college, including
five women, were also found infected. Five Army personnel at the Army quarantine centre in Yol also tested positive.
27 cases in Solan
As many as 27 Covid cases were detected in Solan district. A frontline worker from Parwanoo, one person from Jatoli village in Solan, one from MMU Medical College and one from Bhararighat in Arki were among the infected, said Medical Officer Dr NK Gupta.
In the BBN area, a pregnant woman from Chanal Majra village also tested positive. Others are from Rajpura, Khera, Nalagarh, Lodhimjara, Plankwala and Baddi.
Big spike in Sirmaur
Thirtyseven persons, including 17 from Paonta Sahib, tested positive in Sirmaur district.
The remaining patients hail from Nahan and Kala Amb. Five persons are from Master Colony, Nahan, three from Bittu Colony, Kala Amb, two others from Blue Star factory, Kala Amb, and others from Moginand, Johron, Rampur Jattan and Pratap Bhawan of Nahan, said DC RK Pruthi.
In Paonta Sahib 17 cases were detected from Jawalapur, Muglawala, Kishanpura, Tarruwala, Salwala,Kheri, Badripur, Kolar and Surajpur.
No let-up in Hamirpur
As many as 29 persons, including 18 women and two children, tested positive for coronavirus in the district. Chief Medical Officer Archana Soni said two women of the Hamirpur hospital staff also tested positive.
