65-yr-old falls into gorge, dies

A 65-year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle near Samot Chowk in Bhattiyat subdivision of Chamba district late on Saturday evening.
The police said a speeding pickup hit a parked vehicle that struck a parapet and the man, identified as Prakash Chand, sitting atop it, along with the vehicle, fell into a gorge and died.
The deceased belonged to Kharsan village, the police said. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the pickup driver under sections 279, 337 and 304(A) of the IPC at the Chowari police station and investigation is underway.
