Rs 69 lakh given to beneficiaries under Sukh Aashray Yojana

An amount of Rs 69 lakh was transferred to the bank accounts of 50 district-based beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Sukh Aashray Yojana, Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh said during a district-level meeting here today. He added that the scheme was aimed at the welfare of orphaned children and youth up to the age of 27.

The DC said 19 youths had received Rs 2 lakh each as marriage assistance, totalling Rs 38 lakh, while 31 youths were given Rs 1 lakh each as the first instalment towards house construction. He said that Rs 2 lakh per beneficiary would be released in two more instalments after field verification reports were received.

The DC said that the committee had also approved 31 new applications under the scheme, expanding the number of beneficiaries. The district-level committee also approved extension of the Sponsorship and Foster Care Scheme to 24 orphaned children under the age of 18 years. The DC said that with this, the total number of children benefitting from the scheme in the district had reached 1,147, with each receiving Rs 4,000 per month.
