The minister, while congratulating area residents on the occasion, said a lot of work had been done for the education sector in the Jubbal-Navar-Kotkhai area in the last two years. Several school buildings had been constructed in the constituency, he added.

He said the government was committed to providing quality education to help every child keep pace with the changing times.

Targeting the opposition, Thakur said the state was once among the top five states in the field of education but under the previous BJP government it had slipped down the ladder. About 6,000 teachers had been appointed through batch-wise and direct recruitment, and the process was still underway, he added.

The Minister also inaugurated the Government Primary School, Rathal, building, constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh.
