Hamirpur, June 23
The Excise and Taxation Department today sealed seven liquor shops in the district after confiscating 75 cartons of a whiskey brand being sold illegally.
The department team conducted the raid on getting information that Soulmate Premium Whiskey was being sold there illegally and confiscated 900 bottles in 75 cartons.
Ujjwal Singh Rana, Joint Commissioner, Excise and Taxation, said that the department had sealed seven liquor shops in the district following the detection of illegal sale of liquor.
He added that bottles of Soulmate Premium Whiskey brand, which is not registered for sale in Himachal Pradesh, were recovered from the shops.
He said that it was being investigated that how these shops got the supply of the liquor brand and from where.
He added that the shop operators had been served notices for the suspension of their licences.
