A free heart check-up camp, organised by Chamba Millennium Plus Society at the Medical College in Chamba from September 12 to 14, witnessed 743 people receiving health check-ups.
During the camp, 177 individuals underwent echocardiography (ECHO) tests, and 313 underwent electrocardiogram (ECG) tests.
Patients were also provided necessary medications and given health advice, including dietary recommendations, by the attending doctors. More than 40 patients who required further care were referred to Shimla for advanced treatment.
The camp was led by cardiologists Dr Rajeev Marwaha and Dr Rajesh Sharma from Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.
Chamba Millennium Plus Society president Vineet Vij said the organisation had been conducting free heart check-up camps in Chamba since 2015. On average, around 650 to 700 cardiac patients were examined each year, with 200 to 250 of them being regular patients. The number of people availing these services continued to grow annually, he added. Over the last nine years, more than 7,000 individuals had been examined through these camps, with 1,500 receiving ECHO tests and over 4,500 undergoing ECGs, he said. The organisation would continue organising these camps in the future to ensure that more people benefit from such services, Vij added.
