76 Chamba kids benefit from Vatsalya scheme

Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal announced on Monday that 76 children across Chamba district are currently receiving support under the Central government’s Mission Vatsalya scheme.

Speaking at a district-level meeting of the Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee and the Criminal Injuries Relief and Rehabilitation Board, Repaswal stated that each eligible child under the scheme is provided with financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per month to support their education and well-being.

The DC highlighted that the district has been assigned a target of supporting 100 children under the scheme. He directed all officials concerned to expedite efforts to identify and enroll more eligible beneficiaries at the earliest.

Repaswal specifically urged officials to take proactive measures in reaching out to orphans, children of widows and other vulnerable groups to ensure they benefit from the initiative. During the meeting, final approval was granted for the inclusion of 13 additional children in the scheme.

The proceedings were conducted by District Programme Officer (Women and Child Development), Kamal Kishore Sharma. Also present at the meeting were Deputy Superintendent of Police Jitender Chaudhary, Tehsil Welfare Officer Akshay Kumar and members of the District Child Protection Unit and Child Welfare Committee, Chamba.
