76 researchers to study climate change, natural hazards in Chamba
A team of 76 researchers from Centre for Himalayan Studies, Geography and Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, will do field investigation about climate change and natural hazards in Dharamsala and Bharmour region of Chamba district from March 24 to 28 under the guidance of Prof BW Pandey, Centre for Himalayan Studies.
Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said, “Earlier, researchers of Himalayan Study Centre have undertaken field visits in Manali, Upper Beas Basin, Solang, Sissu, Koksar and Keylong.”
He said, “Centre for Himalayan Studies, University of Delhi, is engaged in research on conservation of ecosystem of Himalayan region. In the present times, areas like Dharamsala are highly susceptible to earthquakes and are also facing problems like climate change. In view of this, environmental conservation is necessary.”
He said, “Researchers from Centre for Himalayan Studies will hold discussions with people as well as media on various topics for five days so that they can gather useful information for environmental conservation and ensure solution of various issues through research.”
