The body of 45-year-old Vetri Duraisamy from Tamil Nadu, who went missing after a car accident on February 4 in Kashang drain in Kinnaur district, was recovered near Pangi drain today. This information was given by Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Sharma. He said that the body was recovered by the team of Mahunag Diving Association, Sudernagar, Mandi district.

Search operation in sutlej

  • On February 4, 2024, an Innova vehicle fell into the Sutlej near Kashang Nala on National Highway-5. One of the three persons travelling in the vehicle died on the spot, another was injured and a search operation was launched for Vetri Duraisamy of Tamil Nadu, who was missing in the accident
  • The search operation, which lasted eight days, was conducted by the rescue teams of Indian Navy, District Disaster Management Authority, Kinnaur, NDRF, STRF, Police and Home Guard

The Deputy Commissioner said that on February 4, 2024, in an accident near Kashang Nala on National Highway-5, an Innova vehicle fell into the Sutlej. One of the three persons travelling in the vehicle died on the spot, one person was found injured and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment and a search operation was launched for Vetri Duraisamy of Tamil Nadu, who was missing in the accident.

In this search operation, which lasted for eight days, a joint search operation was conducted by the rescue teams of Indian Navy, District Disaster Management Authority, Kinnaur, NDRF, STRF, Police and Home Guard and the missing people were found today afternoon.

The body of the deceased has been sent to the IGMC, Shimla, for post-mortem examination. After post-mortem the body will be handed over to the relatives of the deceased.

Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh appreciated the work done by the team lead by Naveen Jhalta, HPS, DSP (HQ) Kinnaur district.

The matter concerning the claim of reward announced by the family of Vetri Duraisamy was addressed by the Deputy Commissioner. He said on February 5, he received a message from the family members of Vetri Duraisamy that anyone who will find the missing body will be awarded Rs 1 crore. And now that they have found the body, the DC said that the matter should be addressed directly by the family and the teams involved in recovering the body, said Amit.
