In an initiative to promote community welfare, the Department of Pharmacy at Sri Sai University, Palampur, organised a blood donation camp on the occasion of Bhagwan Sri Satya Sai Baba’s Rath Yatra yesterday. The event was spearheaded by the Sai School of Pharmaceutical Education & Research and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty and staff.
Held on the university campus, the camp facilitated the collection of approximately 80 units of blood to aid patients in urgent medical need. Over 100 volunteers, including students and faculty members, took part in the drive, which underscored the institution’s commitment to fostering social responsibility and community engagement.
Medical professionals ensured that all safety protocols were observed and also conducted awareness sessions highlighting the critical role of blood donation in saving lives. Speaking on the occasion, university leaders emphasised the importance of such initiatives in building a socially responsible and compassionate student community.
Chancellor SK Punj; Vice-Chancellor Dr Jahid Ali; Dr Rakesh Sharma, Dean of Pharmacy; Dr Amit Sharma, Head of Department of Pharmacy; and Vishal Thakur, Head of D-Pharmacy, were also present with their teams to support the event.
Sri Sai University pledged to organise similar events on a regular basis, reinforcing its mission of service and setting a positive example for the region.
