Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma, who chaired a meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee for the census (2025-26), directed officials to prepare a training schedule. He emphasised that an IT-based digital platform would be used for data collection, verification and report generation.

“The economic census plays a crucial role in understanding the economy at both the national and state levels. It will be conducted efficiently with the cooperation of all concerned departments,” said Sharma. The census will be carried out as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and will aid in socio-economic planning at the district level.

All entrepreneurial units, commercial establishments and economic entities engaged in non-agricultural activities, including those in the unorganised sector, will be covered. The data will be collected through a mobile application.

To ensure smooth execution, patwaris and panchayat secretaries will be deployed as supervisors, while Anganwadi and Asha workers will serve as enumerators. Sharma instructed officials to complete all necessary preparations before the census begins. The collected data will provide valuable insights into the district’s economic landscape, supporting policy-making efforts to improve living standards and create job opportunities.
