A large number of devotees paid obeisance at prominent shrines in the state over the past-one and-a-half week of Navratri.

As per police data, more than 9 lakh pilgrims from the state and other parts of the country paid obeisance at 10 prominent shrines in the state during the nine-day Navratri festival this year.

As per the data, as many as 1,14,079 pilgrims offered prayers at the Chintpurni temple in Una district, 2,65,550 offered prayers at the Naina Devi temple in Bilaspur district, 76,300 pilgrims visited the Jwalaji shrine, 83,017 visited the Brajeshwari temple and 73,960 offered prayers at the Chamunda Devi temple in Kangra district.

As many as 12,704 pilgrims offered prayers at the Sri Baglamukhi temple, 2,15,000 visited the Mata Bala Sundri temple in Sirmaur district, 15,685 pilgrims paid obeisance at the Tara Devi shrine, 19,900 visited the Hatkoti Durga Mata temple and 17,700 offered prayers at the Kalibari temple in Shimla district in the past nine days.

The state police made elaborate arrangements for traffic management and the safety and security of these pilgrims. Police personnel have been deputed in large numbers at the prominent shrines to ensure the pilgrims’ safety and regulate flow of traffic near these shrines.
