In a heartwarming gesture of compassion towards animals, Tibetan Settlement Officer Galek Jamyang from Paonta Sahib demonstrated deep animal love by rescuing a goat and giving it a new lease of life. On the auspicious occasion of Ganga Dussehra, Jamyang reached the Shri Satyanand Gaushala in Behral with a goat that he had recently purchased — not for meat, but for mercy.
The silent creature had been living at a neighbour’s house, and over time, Galek developed a strong emotional bond with it. But in recent days, several buyers had started visiting the owner with offers to purchase the goat, which deeply worried the animal lover. Determined to protect the life of this innocent being, he negotiated with the owner and eventually bought the goat for Rs 18,000.
Galek Jamyang said this act was a humble offering to mark the upcoming 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama. “In our culture, saving a life is among the highest forms of virtue. I dedicate the merit of this act to my spiritual teacher,” he said.
By choosing compassion over convenience, Galek Jamyang has not only saved a life but has also set a moving example for society—proving that love for animals can be a powerful act of devotion and humanity. This compassionate gesture is already inspiring others in the region to look at animals not as commodities, but as companions deserving of love and protection.
