Shimla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anupam Kashyap on Monday announced that a prabhat pheri (morning procession), floral tributes and bhajan programmes will be organised on October 2 to mark the birth anniversaries of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Chairing a meeting to review preparations, the DC directed all departments concerned to work in close coordination to ensure the success of the events. He said the programme will begin at 6 am with a prabhat pheri starting from Lal Bahadur Shastri Chowk, passing through CTO, Lower Bazaar and Sher-e-Punjab restaurant, before culminating at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Ridge. The DC said floral tributes will then be offered at their statues at the Ridge, followed by a bhajan programme.
