Government Arya College, Nurpur, came alive with enthusiasm on Saturday as it hosted ‘Aagaaz’, a vibrant talent search event aimed at celebrating the diverse skills of students. Organised by the college cultural committee under the guidance of Principal Dr Anil Thakur, the event drew participation from nearly 120 students and an audience of over 1,000.

The initiative provided a platform for students to explore and display their hidden talents, particularly in cultural and folk arts. Performances ranged from solo and group singing to energetic dance presentations, featuring traditional styles like Himachali Naati, Bhangra and Haryanvi folk dances such as Phag and Khoria. An anti-ragging skit proved to be a major highlight, drawing loud applause from the gathering.

The programme opened with an inspiring address by Principal Thakur, who emphasised the value of extracurricular activities in shaping well-rounded individuals. “These activities instill discipline, boost academic performance, and nurture leadership, teamwork, communication, and confidence,” he remarked, urging students to actively engage beyond the classroom.

The cultural committee, supported by the entire staff, ensured the smooth execution of the event. The day closed with a vote of thanks by Dr. Diljit Singh, who praised the performers, organizers, and enthusiastic audience for making ‘Aagaaz’ a memorable success. With its mix of tradition, creativity, and youthful energy, ‘Aagaaz’ not only showcased talent but also reinforced the importance of cultural engagement in student life.
