Activists of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today staged a protest near the Municipal Park in Una against inflation and increase in GST rates. They alleged that food grains, cooking gas, clothing and building material had become costlier.

The activists were led by party in-charge for Hamirpur parliamentary segment Raj Kumar, district party in-charge Yashpal Singh and state vice-president of the AAP Doctors’ Wing, Dr Surinder Surya. The AAP workers rose slogans against the Union and state governments. They displayed an LPG cylinder and a garland made from potatoes to symolise their protest.

Raj Kumar said the Union government had been periodically enhancing GST rates of daily need items. It recently imposed GST on milk, rice, wheat flour and curd, besides stationary items used by students in schools. This, he said, would further increase inflation.
