ABVP begins hunger strike in Mandi over statewide demands
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) started a hunger strike today at Vallabh Government College in Mandi district, to protest against various statewide issues. The student organisation’s main demands include improvement in educational infrastructure and student welfare. The ABVP stated that the hunger strike will continue until the government addresses their concerns.
The ABVP’s key demands include reinstating student union elections, addressing discrepancies in entrance exam results, strengthening basic infrastructure at educational institutions, regular recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff, restoring 112 hectares of land taken from Palampur Agricultural University, reducing the jurisdiction of Sardar Patel University, Mandi, combating rising drug mafias, constructing a boys’ hostel and ensuring proper maintenance of the local college.
