ABVP demands probe into irregularities in state Assembly recruitment
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has demanded a judicial probe into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment in Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
In a press statement, Dishant Jaryal, state joint secretary, ABVP, stated that serious allegations of irregularities have surfaced regarding the recruitment process conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly for various posts. “These include positions such as reporter, clerk, junior disciplinary officer, junior office assistant (IT), stenographer, driver, fresher, watchman, and gardener. The foremost accusation pertains to favouritism in the recruitment process. Many selected candidates for various posts are reportedly from areas close to influential leaders of the ruling party,” he said.
“Furthermore, it was found that answer keys were predetermined before the preparation of the question papers. In all exams except for the post of driver, the answer keys matched perfectly with the final question papers, indicating that the question papers were likely tailored to the pre-made answer keys. There was also unnecessary delay in the announcement of results. The verification process was completed in July 2024, but the final results were declared six months later, raising serious concerns about the transparency of the process,” he said.
“Another serious allegation is that some candidates did not appear for the typing test themselves but sent someone else in their place, and yet were declared successful. Many candidates who failed the typing test were still marked eligible, further questioning the fairness of the entire process,” said Jaryal.
“These allegations clearly point to a violation of the principles of equality and fairness enshrined in Articles 14 and 16 of the Constitution. ABVP Himachal Pradesh demands a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice for deserving candidates and restore public trust. Tampering with the future of the youth will not be tolerated at all,” he said.
