Accused in SDM assault case sent to judicial custody

The accused in the assault case involving Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mandi Sadar, Om Kant Thakur during an inspection of illegal mining in Bindravani in Mandi district was remanded to judicial custody today. The incident occurred a few days ago when the SDM was overseeing illegal mining activities in the region.

The accused, Hira Lal, a resident of Thunag, was arrested and taken in police custody immediately after the assault. Today, he was presented before the court which ordered that Hira Lal be sent to judicial custody till February 25.

Mandi SP Sakshi Verma stated that the investigation in the case was going on and authorities were committed to taking strict action against illegal mining and those who resort to violence against government officials performing their duties.

The SP assured that the administration was vigilant and determined to curb illegal mining activities in the region with the cooperation from the law enforcement agencies.
