On the request of the state CID, the court remanded the DSP in a day’s custody, said a CID official.

The Nalagarh court had declared Lakhbeer a PO on February 15 after he failed to appear before it despite a proclamation requiring him to do so on or before February 3.

Lakhbeer is among six policemen accused of torturing a couple during remand and causing a severe ear injury to the young man. A case was registered against them at Nalagarh police station on December 27, 2023, based on a medical report and the orders of the Nalagarh court. The case was subsequently transferred to the state CID. Five other policemen had already been arrested and let-out on bail. The Himachal High Court had denied anticipatory bail to them in August 2024.
