KULLU, JULY 6
Former minister Satya Prakash Thakur came to the rescue of HPCC president Kuldeep Singh Rathore and said that disciplinary action should be taken against two former presidents of HPCC Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Kaul Singh Thakur.
Addressing mediapersons here today, he said the Congress was strengthened under the leadership of Kuldeep Singh Rathore and it was not clear why the former presidents were trying to weaken the party. He said that ruling party was also nervous about the increasing strength of the Congress. The state Congress is united and will remain united.
The former minister said that former presidents had crossed all limits and disciplinary action should be initiated against them. They held a meeting without informing the state president and later deliberately leaked the news to the media. He said that if they had certain issues, they should have informed the party rather than holding secret meetings.
Thakur alleged that the Congress did not win a single seat from Mandi constituency in assembly elections when Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was the president. He said 180 Congressmen were expelled from the party during Sukhu’s tenure as HPCC chief.
Thakur said that party leaders should unite and highlight BJP’s shortcomings before the public. Certain leaders were trying to benefit the BJP by diverting the attention of the Congress. He said that high command should take strict action against those who try to weaken the party.
