ADC gets additional charge as Commissioner of new Una MC
Una Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahender Pal Gurjar on Monday took over as the first Commissioner of the Una Municipal Corporation.
Gurjar is a 2018 batch IAS officer. Fourteen new villages surrounding Una city are proposed to be included in the existing Una Municipal Council to upgrade it to the status of a municipal corporation, and the mandatory process of public notices and notifications has been completed.
In a press release issued here, Gurjar said a total of 90 rural wards of 14 panchayats adjoining the city — namely Jhalera, Rainsari, Kotla Khurd, Ajnoli, Kotla Kalan Lower, Kotla Kalan Upper, Lalsingi, Arniala Upper, Arniala Lower, Malahat, Tabba, Rampur, Kuthar Khurd and Kuthar Kalan — will be included in the municipal corporation.
The Municipal Commissioner said the process of identification and demarcation of city wards out of rural areas will be initiated shortly, after which ward-wise urban voter lists will be prepared so that elections to the Una Municipal Corporation can be held in time.
Gurjar said sanitation, proper operation of drainage and sewerage systems, and the beautification of the city area would be his priorities.
The problem of waterlogging at certain areas during monsoons will also be tackled in the near future, he added.
