ADM, SP inspect Parchhu Bridge area in Mandi

Issue directives to accelerate relief, drainage works

In response to the waterlogging and debris accumulation near Parchhu Bridge, where an artificial lake developed under Dharampur subdivision of Mandi, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sakshi Verma and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Madan Kumar conducted an on-site inspection to assess the situation and expedite relief efforts on Wednesday.

During the inspection, the ADM emphasised the urgency of addressing the issue and instructed the road construction firm operating in the area to ensure a permanent solution for water and debris drainage within 24 hours. He also directed that the number of machines and equipment engaged in relief operations be increased to accelerate the pace of work.

The ADM further stressed that all debris must be disposed of only at the designated dumping sites, ensuring environmental compliance and avoiding further obstruction in the area.

SP Sakshi Verma highlighted the importance of maintaining smooth traffic flow to prevent inconvenience to residents. She underlined the need for a long-term resolution to the water and debris issue to prevent similar disruptions or potential accidents in the future.

The inspection team included Sarkaghat SDM Swati Dogra, Sarkaghat DSP Sanjeev Gautam, and Dharampur DSP Sanjeev Sood. The authorities have assured the public that relief work will continue round-the-clock until normalcy is restored in the affected areas.

Yesterday, Dharampur MLA Chander Shekhar also visited the spot to assess the situation.
