The district administration is making elaborate arrangements for institutional quarantine of over 20,000 persons likely to enter the district in the next fortnight from different destinations by train and personal vehicles. Official sources said here today that there would be two types of quarantine facilities — paid and non-paid. Those who are ready to pay can be kept in hotels and resorts. The administration has identified Satsang Bhawannear Palampur and other government buildings like schools, nursing colleges and community halls for providing quarantine facilities.
According to new guidelines issued by the state government, everyone who enters the state will be kept in institutional quarantine for 14 days. The state government has initiated these steps after the detection of 15 new Covid-19 cases in Bilaspur, Mandi, Kangra, Chamba and Solan district in the past 10 days. All these persons have come from Delhi, Gurugram or Gujarat. There is not even a single local case, therefore the state government doesn’t want to take any risk in the coming days.
Earlier, the government had allowed unscreened and unplanned entry of 90,000 persons to the state which has spiked the number of Covid-19 cases. This step of the government has drawn widespread criticism from political parties, NGOs, social bodies and medical experts.
