Fresh snowfall in the Lahaul and Spiti district has led to severe disruption in road connectivity, affecting traffic movement across key highways and roads. The heavy snowfall, particularly near the Atal Tunnel, Rohtang, on the Manali-Leh Highway, has blocked vital routes between Keylong and Manali, halting transportation.

In addition to the Manali-Leh highway, the roads leading to Darcha from Keylong and from Tandi to Udaipur have also been closed due to the accumulation of snow, further complicating access to these regions.

The Spiti Valley, known for its harsh terrain, has experienced significant snowfall, causing disruption of normal life. The snowfall has impacted residents and the movement of goods, making it difficult for the public to go about their daily activities.

In the light of these challenges, the district administration of Lahaul and Spiti has issued an advisory urging both tourists and locals to avoid unnecessary travel in the region.

The advisory is meant to ensure public safety in the wake of unpredictable weather conditions, with authorities warning of potential hazards on slippery roads and limited visibility due to the ongoing snowstorm.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the Public Works Department (PWD) have initiated snow clearance operations to restore connectivity and open up the blocked routes. Efforts are being made to clear the snow from the affected highways and roads, although the authorities have not provided a specific timeline for the full restoration of traffic.

Tourists are being urged to check weather conditions before travelling to the area and are advised to stay updated on road status. The administration continues to monitor the situation closely, with teams on standby to provide necessary assistance and ensure public safety. As the winter season progresses, the region is likely to experience more disruptions and residents have been urged to remain prepared for further challenges.

The high altitude areas of Kullu and Mandi district also received fresh snow. Snowfall occurred at Manali Mall road, which brought cheer on the faces of tourists and local tourism stakeholders.

In Mandi district Shikari Devi Hills, Prashar Lake and Kamrunag valley also received fresh snow, while lower regions of both the district experienced showers. As a result, entire region has come up under the grip of cold wave.
