Agri team reviews crop growth at Him Krishi cluster in Nurpur

A joint team of the Agriculture Department on Wednesday visited the fields of farmers in the Him Krishi cluster at Baduhi in Nurpur to review the growth of various crops. The team, led by Dr Rahul Katoch, Additional Director of Agriculture (North Zone), Dharamsala, inspected garlic, onion and several seasonal vegetable crops.

The team also included Dr Kuldeep Dhiman, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Palampur, and Dr Shailesh Paul Sood, Agriculture Subject Matter Specialist, Nurpur. They advised farmers to install borewells to address irrigation water scarcity in the cluster. The officials interacted with cluster farmers, who shared their crop-related issues.

The experts recommended that farmers should grow spring onions in the upcoming spring season and adopt organic cereal cultivation, noting that organic produce fetches significantly higher market prices. Farmers were also sensitised to improved cultivation techniques for spring onions.

Additionally, the team highlighted the benefits of sprinkler and drip irrigation systems and encouraged farmers to adopt these technologies.
