Agri varsity outlines key initiatives
Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University (CSKHPKV) Vice Chancellor, Professor Naveen Kumar, chaired meetings of the Extension and Research Councils, outlining significant advancements in agricultural research and extension services.
Key highlights included the forthcoming release of a unified package of practices for vegetable crops in collaboration with Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry. The university also emphasized its commitment to farmer-centric research and extension programs, involving stakeholders in decision-making.
Professor Kumar highlighted the university’s achievements in various sectors, including the successful registration of the Gaddi dog breed. Discussions focused on key initiatives such as beekeeping, cold-water fish farming, and promoting entrepreneurship among rural youth.
The meetings saw active participation from university officials, researchers, farmers, and representatives from various government departments. Suggestions included improving animal breed awareness, enhancing cattle feed quality, expanding agribusinesses, and promoting natural farming.
