The CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University will implement the new education policy from the next academic session. An e-office system to bring transparency and efficiency in the working of the university will be implemented by March.
This was announced by Prof HK Chaudhary, Vice-Chancellor of the university, in his address on the New Year through virtual mode here today. He said students’ record would be maintained and degrees would be awarded through DigiLocker and the ICT cell had already been created for the purpose.
He said 46 positions of teaching and non-teaching staff had been filled and process to fill up 120 such posts had been initiated. The university was duty-bound to educate youths and increase the income of farmers, conserve and scientifically utilise immense natural resources and genetically improve crops, medicinal and aromatic plants. He said innovative changes, improvement in agricultural marketing, crop diversification and modernisation were in his agenda to make agriculture attractive for young farmers.
Prof Chaudhary exhorted scientists to bring innovation in research as per geographical conditions and needs of a particular area and bring new research projects for the betterment of farmers. He also advocated national and international collaborations for quality research, exposure of students, transfer of new farm technology and useful information at the doorsteps of the farming community.
He said the vision document was under process and steps had been initiated to provide new facilities to students and staff and give international status to the university, besides making campus clean, green and smart.
