In a major relief for patients and their attendants at Atal Super Specialty Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Chamiyana, a 150-room dormitory with 50 additional beds will soon be constructed for their stay. The initiative is being undertaken by the Tulsi Ram Bhagirath Ram Memorial Charitable Society (Sood Sabha, Chandigarh), which has agreed to bear the entire construction cost.
A meeting chaired by the Shimla Deputy Commissioner reviewed the proposal today. He directed a joint site inspection on September 18, 2025, under the chairmanship of the SDM, along with other officers concerned. Following this, the process for forest clearances will be initiated.
The DC said with OPDs of various departments already functional at AIIMS-Chamiyana, the inn will provide much-needed accommodation for hundreds of patients and their attendants visiting the institute daily. Present on the occasion were Society president Adarsh Kumar Sood, Additional District Magistrate Pankaj Sharma and District Revenue Officer Sanjeet Sharma.
