The MeT office has issued an orange alert for “very heavy” snowfall in some parts of Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur and rain and snow in some parts of Mandi, Shimla, Kangra, Kullu and Sirmaur districts until tomorrow evening.

Most places in the state received heavy rain today while snowfall started in Narkanda, Kharapathar, Chopal in upper Shimla towards the evening. Due to the snowfall, the National Highway-5 was blocked at Narkanda. Around four inches of snow was reported at Kharapathar. The snowfall was likely to continue through the night.
