Shimla, February 29

It is the Central observers, who eventually managed to forge unity in the faction-ridden party, bringing everyone together while vowing to work for the party’s win in the Lok Sabha polls.

Living up to his reputation of being the party’s crisis manager, Karnatakata Deputy CM DK Shivkumar announced the patch-up between Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu and his ministerial colleague Vikramaditya Singh. “The CM has taken responsibility for the defeat,” he said flanked by CM, Deputy Chief Minister, Pratibha Singh, Vikramaditya Singh, ministers and MLAs.

The crisis management team led by Shivkumar, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Bhagel managed to placate a miffed state Congress president Pratibha Singh and her son and Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, who agreed to take back his resignation and attended the Cabinet meeting.

“All is well in the party as all issues have been resolved and all MLAs have agreed to work unitedly for Congress win in the Lok Sabha elections,” he announced at a press conference at the CM’s residence. He said Vikramaditya had withdrawn his resignation.

He along with Hooda announced that a six-member coordination committee would be constituted to address all issues that crop up from time to time between the government and the party organisation. The six-member coordination committee will include CM, state president, Deputy CM, besides three others to be appointed by the high command, said Hooda.

“All MLAs want that the Congress government completes its full five year term as they have been given mandate by the electorate,” said Shivkumar while evading a direct reply to queries about change of leadership by replacing Sukhu. Pratibha Singh also said all issues had been resolved and now everyone will work together to ensure Congress victory in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

Sukhu said the people of Himachal will not forgive BJP for trying to destabilise a democratically elected government.

Hooda said no minister, MLA or party office-bearer will make statements in the media and only the authorised party spokesperson could make a statement.

Panel to be formed to address all issues
